The purpose and philosophy The PADI Underwater Naturalist course is to focus on responsible interactions with the living marine environment. This means to expand your knowledge of aquatic life and to help you to interact with the living underwater world based on objective assessments and observation with the environment.
If you’re fascinated by marine life underwater the PADI Underwater Naturalist Specialty course is an introduction to interacting with the underwater aquatic environment. At Kiwidiver we will show you about the different major aquatic life groupings and how they interact so that you understand what you are watching in the underwater environment. You’ll no longer see ‘fish’, but individual species with distinct strategies for surviving in a complex, interactive ecosystem.
You’ll begin to understand some of the interrelated survival tactics that allow quite unexpected creatures to live side by side.
You learn about some of the major aquatic life groupings, interactions and factual information that dispels popular myths, the role of aquatic plants, food chains and predator prey relationships and responsible interactions with aquatic life.

Spend 5 days with your own Master Scuba Diver Trainer working towards your goal of becoming a confident experienced diver. Your MSD Trainer will not only coach you in the 5 specialty areas you are completing but also assist with advice and training in boat diving, buoyancy, air consumption and many other areas.
